Remembering Our Life in God

We dedicate this Memorial Day to the remembrance of the Life we live in God. This is the only Life there is. We remember the only Life that is in all things through the practice of letting Holy Spirit be the Interpreter of all our perceptions.

With His help we see past appearances in form to the unity of the Love that joins us all as one. Sadness about the appearance of loss is replaced by the joy of remembering the Love we are and will forever be. Guilt for what we believed had happened is replaced by the awareness that we share the innocence of Love with all our brothers. Instead of dwelling upon the past we focus upon the present and find our joy, our peace, our Love, our Life.

We Rest in Heaven’s Eternal Light Today

Healing, forgiveness, and the glad exchange of all the world of sorrow for a world where sadness cannot enter, are the means by which the Holy Spirit urges you to follow Him. His gentle lessons teach how easily salvation can be yours; how little practice you need undertake to let His laws replace the ones you made to hold yourself a prisoner to death. [Holy Spirit’s] life becomes your own, as you extend the little help He asks in freeing you from everything that ever caused you pain. (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.137.9)

Today we rest in God’s healing Light… Today we open to Holy Spirit’s healing thoughts… We let Holy Spirit’s healing Light shine away our misperceptions… His Light shows us the changeless Love beyond all appearances… We allow Holy Spirit to return us to our true Identity, where we belong in eternity.

Accepting Healed Perception

There is a borderland of thought that stands between this world and Heaven. It is not a place, and when you reach it is apart from time. Here is the meeting place where thoughts are brought together; where conflicting values meet and all illusions are laid down beside the truth, where they are judged to be untrue. This borderland is just beyond the gate of Heaven. Here is every thought made pure and wholly simple. Here is sin denied, and everything that is received instead.

[Perception and knowledge] are brought together, and only one continues past the gate where oneness is. Salvation is a borderland where place and time and choice have meaning still, and yet it can be seen that they are temporary, out of place, and every choice has been already made. (A Course in Miracles, T-26.III.2,3:5-6)

The Course tells us that there is no world and that we have never succeeded in separating from our Source, from Love. Yet our experience of the world seems very convincing because we are firmly dedicated to the belief that we are separate, limited to a body and only able to perceive through the body. We are told that the body is the ego’s instrument to limit our perception so that we are only able to perceive “proof” that separation is real, that our mind is separate from other minds, unable to communicate mind to mind.

In this world of limitation the Holy Spirit’s purpose is to teach us that we are unlimited. Because of our dedication to our belief in being separate, we have denied knowledge of oneness so the Holy Spirit must reach to us and help us to soften our investment in separation and isolation.

Forgiveness is the means of loosening our identification with the thought system of being separate. In Oneness, there is no need for forgiveness, for there is nothing to forgive. But the Holy Spirit brings us the illusion of forgiveness to help us let go of the illusions that keeps us locked into the closed thought system of separation.

As we let the Holy Spirit transform our limited perception so that we can see past it, we recognize that the meaning we have given the world can be let go. And so we approach the borderland where we still seem to see forms of separate bodies in time and space but we realize that these are only temporary and that they do not truly limit us. We can lay them down and open our minds to the experience of Love’s oneness without fear and guilt. When we welcome this experience without reservation, the Holy Spirit’s job is done and we remember our Home in Love. Our joy and peace are complete.

We Are Included in God’s Peace

If God’s Will for you is complete peace and joy, unless you experience only this you must be refusing to acknowledge His Will. His Will does not vacillate, being changeless forever. When you are not at peace it can only be because you do not believe you are in Him. Yet He is All in all. His peace is complete, and you must be included in it. (A Course in Miracles, T-8.IV.1:1-5)

We dedicate today to accepting the peace that God has given us… We let ourselves feel the peace that is right there in our minds, waiting for acceptance… We let peace cover all our thoughts with its healing light… We give time to let God’s peace do its healing work… We allow ourselves to feel the peace… the safety… the sense of well being… We know that everything is all right… Fear disappears in the certainty of His peace as we silently remember that we are in God’s peace eternally… We extend God’s peace to include everyone… All this comes to us as we remember that we are included in God’s peace.

Let the Peace in You Extend

The extension of the Holy Spirit’s purpose from your relationship to others, to bring them gently in, is the way in which He will bring means and goal in line. The peace He lay, deep within you and your brother, will quietly extend to every aspect of your life, surrounding you and your brother with glowing happiness and the calm awareness of complete protection. And you will carry its message of love and safety and freedom to everyone who draws nigh unto your temple, where healing waits for him.

“When you look with gentle graciousness upon your brother, you are beholding [the Holy Spirit]. For you are looking where He is, and not apart from Him. You cannot see the Holy Spirit, but you can see your brothers truly. And the light in them will show you all that you need to see. When the peace in you has been extended to encompass everyone, the Holy Spirit’s function here will be accomplished. (A Course in Miracles, T-19.IV.1:5-7;3:2-6)

The Holy Spirit will extend peace through you as you allow it to extend to everyone you meet. The blessings that come with the extension of Holy Spirit’s peace are many. You are healed along with every brother. You are filled with a sense of safety and gratitude as you follow the Holy Spirit’s plan for the awakening of the Sonship from the dream of separation. Joy fills your heart for you know that you are joined with your brother in Love.

We Let Love Lead the Way

Today in all our doing, we open to the lead of simple, uncomplicated Love… We soften and open to the Light of truth… We let Love lead the way…

We trust that the power of Love will straighten our path and lead away from the bumpy, crooked way we chose before… We relax and are willing to be led in Love’s gentle ways… We let our thoughts be healed in Love’s healing Light… We let Love lead the way today.

Seeing Our Brother as Sinless

For what is Heaven but union, direct and perfect, and without the veil of fear upon it? Here are we one, looking with perfect gentleness upon each other and on ourselves. Here all thoughts of any separation between us become impossible. You who were a prisoner in separation are now made free in Paradise. And here would I unite with you, my friend, my brother and my Self.

There is no fear in perfect love because it knows no sin, and it must look on others as on itself. …See [your brother] as sinless, and there can be no fear in you. (A Course in Miracles, T-20.III.10:3-7;11:3,9)

We receive God’s peace as we see our brother as sinless. As we practice this, we are merely seeing the truth. The Holy Spirit will show us the innocence in every brother as we consistently ask to receive the truth about our brother and ourselves. Fear disappears and is replaced by the Light of Heaven. We are able to feel Heaven’s peace and Love and joy fill our heart and mind. In gratitude we make it our highest priority to see our sinless brother all through the day.
