Soul Nectar

by Rev. Mary Lenihan, Ordained Ministerial Counselor

Ever since a hummingbird and I had a mutual exchange of souls as I stood praying in the meditation garden outside St. Mary’s while my mom’s soul was moving towards full transparency; ever since, I have been communicating with my soul. Two weeks after the fluttering wings of the hummingbird danced Infinity upon my forehead, I received the meaning of this encounter and clear direction in these words, “to companion souls.” That answered an eternal question I had asked over many days and many of nights. Pouring myself out to the Holy Spirit, waiting upon Spirit to pour upon me.

Our Power Is in Our Willingness

by Rev. Maria Kingsley, Ordained Ministerial Counselor

When we are willing, we are in the Now.

Through our willingness, we can remember that what we are experiencing is our choice. Does it feel good or bad? When we don’t like it, we have the power of choice to change it.

Of course, sometimes we don’t want to change. We want to be right, be angry, feel justified and want others to feel the pain we are feeling. That is the moment when it is really important to ask for help

There Is and Old Ego That Lives in My Head

by Rev. Barbara Adams, Ordained Ministerial Counselor

There is an old ego that lives
in my head, has multiple voices.
I often feel dread.

Been trying to tame her and
drag her on down. “I got you,”
I scolded. She screeched
like a clown.

“Shut up!” I would tell her.
“Stop screaming at me.”
“Your voice is so loud.
I’ll never be free!”

Hello Beautiful Lights!

Please help us help you and your ministry. We are performing much needed updates on our Minister Services files. Recent improvements on the Pathwaysoflight.org website have increased significantly the number of catalog and information requests. ACIM Text Questions and Answers

Excerpts from Text Made Simple

Below is in reference to Text Chapter 1, Section V on pages 12-13.

In the first paragraph, the miracle and the body are both described as learning aids, which are used only as long as they are needed. As we return to the awareness of our original state as Love, direct communication replaces the miracle and the body. Because we did not create ourselves, we cannot change our innate ability to create (which means extend Love) as our Creator does. We can imagine that we have destroyed our communication with our Source, but we cannot make it true.

Be In the World, But Not of It

by Rev. Dan Strodl, Ordained Ministerial Counselor

“There is a way of living in the world that is not here, although it seems to be. You do not change appearance, though you smile more frequently. Your forehead is serene; your eyes are quiet. And the ones who walk the world as you do recognize their own. Yet those who have not yet perceived the way will recognize you also, and believe that you are like them, as you were before.” (W-155.1)

The world we live in is an insane ego thought system that thrives on fear, judgments, grievances, conflict, worry and stress. It is all projected from the ego thought system which we inherited at the separation and developed through our lives.

Attack, defense, conflict and fear keep us locked in the ego’s prison. But we can open the prison door with forgiveness. Forgiveness is letting go of all the illusions that block us from the truth of who we are.

“This is an insane world, and do not underestimate the extent of its insanity. There is no area of your perception that it has not touched, and your dream is sacred to you. That is why God placed the Holy Spirit in you, where you placed the dream.” (T-14.I.2:6-8)

Get Off the Cross, We Need the Wood!

by Rev. Myron, Jones, Ordained Ministerial Counselor

Everything is my responsibility. I sometimes forget that this is true, and begin to think the world is hurting me and responsible for my misery. I forget that I am only projecting these things on others from my own mind and that the only power to hurt me comes from my own. I can only be hurt if I decide that is to happen. I crucify myself. But eventually, I withdraw the projections that I cast onto others, reclaiming them so that I can allow the Holy Spirit to help me see them differently.
As a result of doing this daily, I notice a difference in my relationships. I feel loving toward other people, and I feel them respond more lovingly toward me. I noticed yesterday that when I called the office for help with a customer, I began by asking how my coworker was doing. This is not unusual, just common courtesy. What was unusual is that it was not just a polite way of beginning a conversation. It was a prayer, a song shared spirit to spirit. My soul sang of love and oneness to her soul. I think this is what communication between the children of God is supposed to be like. It is what it will be like all the time when I have allowed all my projections to be withdrawn and healed.

How Miracles Affected the Health of My Body

by Rev. Rosemarie Tropf, Ordained Ministerial Counselor

I have always had a huge confusion as an ACIM student for many years. Since 1969 I have said to myself that I believe I am not this body, that I am Spirit. But, if I really believe that then shouldn’t I be healthy, happy and reap the rewards of that belief? Instead, I have lived in chronic pain the whole time from Fibromyalgia and spinal degeneration. Why? I ask myself that all the time. How does this all tie together for me?

So I questioned my beliefs, plus, I did a ton of forgiveness work. I did have a very dysfunctional childhood with physical, mental and sexual abuse. Doctors say that stress as a child creates autoimmune diseases. So I did lots of forgiveness work there also. I learned to understand that I came in with a script and that nobody is responsible for my condition but me at some level. I learned how to love my parents again without blame. I agreed that by me blaming others I contributed to my physical pain. So, through doing more forgiveness work for my own tendency to blame others because I was so angry, I learned to not blame others. Is the pain gone now? No.

Wanting the Peace of God

by Rev. Larry Glenz, Ordained Ministerial Counselor

On the first page in the Text of A Course in Miracles it says:

“This course can therefore be summed up very simply in this way:

Nothing real can be threatened.

Nothing unreal exists.

Herein lies the peace of God.”

The first paragraph that precedes this one speaks of “removing the blocks to the awareness of love’s presence.” Upon reading this for the first time, I wondered if I might be ready to learn how to remove these blocks.

In the fall of 1994 I attended a presentation by Marianne Williamson in mid-town Manhattan. A close friend had given me an audiotape of her first book, A Return to Love. Whatever it was that she was speaking about, I wanted to know more.

The Ladder

by Rev. Joyce Peebles, Ordained Ministerial Counselor

The teachings in A Course in Miracles can be likened to a ladder, each rung giving us an idea of where we are in our learning process. At the bottom of the ladder is the belief we are a body and should love another’s ego body. We are not asked to love anyone’s ego personality. We certainly are not asked to judge, nor make decisions on our own. We are asked to forgive.

In Workbook Lesson 122 it says, “Forgiveness lets the veil be lifted up that hides the face of Christ from those who look with unforgiving eyes upon the world.” (W-pI.122.3:1)

The Self Discovery Journey

by Rev. Cathy Silva, Ordained Ministerial Counselor

My mid-thirties were a particularly tumultuous time in my life and ended up being a big turning point and stepping off point in my spiritual and self discovery journey. During that time, I was experiencing some significant challenges in my relationship with my husband and in my role as a mom especially. In the midst of it all, I was struggling to find myself.

A recurring image came to my mind in the form of a waking dream:

I was inside a large bird cage suspended in midair. The door of the cage was open so that if I so desired, I could simply step out and fly. But my fear and insecurities kept me locked inside.

Reality Beyond Duality

by Rev. Gina Lucia, Ordained Ministerial Counselor

Now is a perfect time to explore the “duality” paradigm of life in the physical and how it has served us as we move away from our limitations of separation from Source. Each event in our world becomes an opportunity to bring us closer to awakening to the truth of our oneness with each other and with God. “The real world is attained simply by the complete forgiveness of the old, the world you see without forgiveness.” (T-17.II.5:1-2)

As we move from body identity to Spirit identity we will find Source, our Guide, our Inner Teacher. “Your worth is beyond perception because it is beyond doubt. Do not perceive yourself in different lights. Know yourself in the One Light where the miracle that is you is perfectly clear.” (T-3.V.10:7-9)

The Illusion Delusion

by Rev. Peggy Rivera, Ordained Ministerial Counselor

I received an email from one of our sisters with a message from the ACIM text.

“I am come as a light into a world that does deny itself everything. It does this simply by dissociating itself from everything. It is therefore an illusion of isolation maintained by fear of the same loneliness that is its illusion.” (T-8.lV.2:1-3) I thought, “That is the main point of this discussion. It is literally how we deny ourselves everything and accept nothingness in its place.”

Then I thought, “Okay, what is an illusion? A thing that is or is likely to be wrongly perceived or interpreted by the senses. A deceptive appearance or impression. A false idea or belief.”

Body of Proof

Rev. Paula Richards, Ordained Ministerial Counselor

A number of years ago, I developed a cellulitis (an infection that can quickly become life-threatening if left untreated) just above my left ankle. Because I had mistakenly let my health insurance lapse, I didn’t bother going to the doctor. Rather quickly, the area turned into a nasty open wound that was quite painful and literally took months to heal. When I finally saw my physician and told her about it, she scolded me. “You could have died!” she said.

A few years later, like before, I began noticing a warm, red spot that was very tender above my other ankle. Not taking any chances, I called my doctor’s office. She was not working that day so I agreed to see another physician whom I had never met. He was very quick to dismiss my suspicion that I had another cellulitis. He not only disagreed with me, but he did so with a great deal of arrogance. I left his office angry and sporting an “I’ll show him!” attitude.
