The Strength of Our Innocence

Our crime was never meant to be… no, we simply believed some untruth but saw the better of it before any sentence could be laid. We remain innocent of any murder of God, ourselves or anyone else. The death of God could never be. Therefore, no death exists.

Only one who was guilty could suffer such a separation, and since we think not with the ego thought system, we are free of anything but God’s peace, joy and happiness eternally. This is the truth.

Deception is not for God’s children and has never been. The strength of our innocence keeps us strong in the Light that we are, the infinite Self of Love that is eternal. We rejoice in the freedom that comes in knowing our True Self and God as One in Heaven. There are no exclusions — only inclusion in the Love that is us.

There is never any wondering about our true Nature. Like as to God, we are the sinless, guiltless, fear-free Son of God in the one Mind. We are free forever to enjoy the unspeakable experience of our Being, which is of God.

Pathways of Light Miracles News is published quarterly in print and online to provide a forum for Pathways of Light ministers to share their process of allowing the Holy Spirit to heal their minds. As we read and share these miracle stories with each other, we are inspired and we inspire each other to accelerate our return Home to Love, peace and happiness.

I Am Still as God Created Me

Before I started one of my smaller meditations that I am trying to do hourly, I heard some arguing from a mother and father of a two year old across the street from me. I was working on ACIM Lesson 110, I am as God created me. I was led to include my neighbors saying, “We are all as God created us to be.” I had a great meditation seeing everyone in the Light that we all are. I also sent Love and peace to them and then out to the Sonship.

A couple of minutes after I finished, the mother and father started screaming at each other. The mother then yelled, “Please help!… Anyone…please help!” I was still very connected with my inner Guide, the Holy Spirit, and was prompted to call 911.

With 911 still on the line and asking Holy Spirit to guide us all, three neighbors and myself went over. I did not feel any fear because I consider both the mother and father my friends along with having that connection with the Holy Spirit. With tears in my eyes though, I was led by Holy Spirit to calm everyone down. The father took off on his bicycle before the police showed up. When they did arrive, I was emotionally wiped out, gave the mother a hug and then walked home.

I immediately went to my meditation chair repeating, “We are all as God created us to be.” My inner Guide said that I was needed here to send out Love and to remember my brothers in their true state as Love… It came to me that all of this is coming up for my healing along with the entire Sonship… and that we are all safe in the Love of God — still perfect, innocent and untouched by anything this ego dream seems to show us.

I then sensed myself rising above the situation, with my neighbors right by my side. I could see their Light, love and complete innocence… I could see us holding hands and dancing around in a circle of complete joy, singing merrily, merrily, life is but a dream. Birds and butterflies were joining us in this celebration of our oneness in Gods love.

I was visibly shaken by this episode, but because Holy Spirit was and is with me, I was able to get back to my true peaceful self as love quickly.

Every morning and many times a day I ask Holy Spirit to guide me to help me see with His vision. I am so blessed and thankful for ACIM and Pathways of Light courses to give me tools to stay connected with my inner Guide, to love and keep me in peace.

Holy Spirit was able to help me see everyone involved in this drama as innocent, pure Love… that we are all calling for that God given love.

The beauty of the ACIM Workbook daily lessons are that every lesson is capable of guiding me back to the Holy Spirit and to the peace of love I try to live.

I do not know what anything means, but the Holy Spirit has led me to be here at this time for healing myself, my neighbors and the Sonship. I know that there are still lessons I need to learn and I am so thankful that they are coming up to be seen, healed and released. I am receiving lessons to bring me back to the peace and Love that is my true Self. Holy Spirit is showing me that these bodies are not our true selves. He is saying this is how I can heal — to give Him the judgments and fear the ego wants me to see and feel.

It works! I did not get sucked in to judging the situation. Nobody is at fault. No one is guilty. Everyone is innocent, pure love. This is how Holy Spirit is showing me to see it. So I put my trust in Him and I do see that Love in everyone; I do see that innocence, that guiltlessness. We are all the Son of God, the Son of Love — pure love, whole and complete within our Source. All of my brothers are my saviors and I am theirs.

Thank you, Holy Spirit, for helping me see my brothers as their true Self. Thank you for reminding me of our one true Self as pure Love.

A couple of day’s later the mother, father and son came over. We talked about the whole situation and she said she knows that she has guardian angels. She wishes she could hear them. I said, “Ask for their help as soon as you can when you wake up. Ask them to guide you as many times as you can throughout the day. Ask them to help you in your sleeping time as well. Whether you call it your guardian angels, the good in ourselves, Spirit, Holy Spirit, our inner Guide, Jesus, Buddha, Love or God — take time to go within to listen or just to find the peace that you so deserve.”

Relying On Spirit

Most people who know me well know these two things about me. One that I am a minister and two that I love to fish.

I retired almost six years ago, and recently I had been having the recurring and persistent thought of buying a boat. I have a few friends that have one and it is always a great experience to go with them whether we catch anything or not.

I struggled with the usual thoughts when considering such a purchase, but as I went to Holy Spirit with my concerns I heard very clearly, “What is it for?”

As a student of A Course in Miracles, I am familiar with this principal as it is mentioned more than a few times in the book. I was very pleased to receive this guidance from Spirit.

As I was pondering the question it became very clear to me that while I love just to be on the water and to fish, the boat would provide many opportunities to join with others in a very unique way.

I knew it wasn’t about getting a new possession or even being able to fish when and where I wanted. Of course having my own boat could provide those things, but when I went deeper into my mind, it was about the opportunity for joining.

My wife Becky will readily tell you that I will talk to anyone, anywhere. She will tell you that I can’t even go to the grocery store without talking to someone I don’t know and sometimes making a new friend.

When she looks around to find me, she isn’t the least bit surprised to find me talking to someone. I have always been like that and while she will lovingly pretend to be a little annoyed, I know that she actually loves that about me.

She often tells our friends, “I was looking around for him the other day and of course, there he was, talking to a complete stranger.” But to me, especially as a minister and a student of the Course, there is no such thing as a stranger. How could a brother be a stranger?

Understanding the principal and asking the question, “What is it for?” has become an amazing tool for me. It helps me to remember to rely on Spirit on a moment by moment basis which is one of the best things I could ever learn.

Making decisions in life based solely on a spread sheet might provide a sense of financial security and responsibility, but at what cost? I can just imagine Spirit saying, “Do you really think that buying this will prevent Me from bringing you what you will need?” One of the passages in the Course that has always been very helpful to me is in Chapter 20 of the Text. I chose it as one of the quotes to put on the back of my Pathways of Light ministers card.

“Once you accept His plan as the one function that you would fulfill, there will be nothing else the Holy Spirit will not arrange for you without your effort. He will go before you making straight your path, and leaving in your way no stones to trip on, and no obstacles to bar your way. Nothing you need will be denied you. Not one seeming difficulty but will melt away before you reach it. You need take thought for nothing, careless of everything except the only purpose that you would fulfill. As that was given you, so will its fulfillment be. God’s guarantee will hold against all obstacles, for it rests on certainty and not contingency. It rests on you. And what can be more certain than a Son of God?” (T-20.IV.8:4-12)

The other is from Chapter 18 of the Text: (T-18.III.2:2) “If you knew who walks beside you on the way that you have chosen, fear would be impossible.”

So, now the obvious question becomes, did I get the boat? Yes, I did. And I have to tell you that I have had deep and meaningful experiences with my brothers each time I have been out. We have caught a lot of fish and more importantly, I have made new friends and deepened my relationships with my existing friends and family.

It has shown me in a very profound and meaningful way what the Course means when it says that of myself, I know nothing, and to question everything, asking for Spirit’s guidance.

The ego’s guidance tells me that I am being selfish and irresponsible and now I know why. Using something I want to join with my brothers and really get to know them could eventually lead to its demise as my choice of voices to listen to. Now I’m not saying that I can go out and buy everything I want and justify it by saying it is for joining. But I am saying that it cannot be my choice alone, and that often my desires are very holy because I have put Spirit in charge.
