Accepting the Life We Share in God

We share one life because we have one Source, a Source from which perfection comes to us, remaining always in the holy minds which He created perfect. As we were, so are we now and will forever be. A sleeping mind must waken, as it sees its own perfection mirroring the Lord of life so perfectly it fades into what is reflected there. And now it is no more a mere reflection. It becomes the thing reflected, and the light which makes reflection possible. No vision now is needed. For the wakened mind is one that knows its Source, its Self, its Holiness. (A Course in Miracles W-pI.167.12)

Today is our opportunity to accept the Life we share in God. God’s peace is there in our minds to be accepted. It is our choice to accept God’s peace today and extend it through the day. God’s gentleness and Love are inherent in our singular focus of accepting the Life we live in God. This is our practice for today.

We Dedicate Ourselves to Truth Today

Today is a day of special dedication. We take a stand on but one side today. We side with truth and let illusions go. We will not vacillate between the two, but take a firm position with the One. We dedicate ourselves to truth today, and to salvation as God planned it be. We will not argue it is something else. We will not seek for it where it is not. In gladness we accept it as it is, and take the part assigned to us by God.” (A Course in Miracles W-pI.98.1)

We think that whatever will bring us happiness is our salvation. The ego and the world it projects is simply a mistaken idea of what will bring us happiness. Because it is a mistaken idea, the ego is an interference that stands in the way of our true happiness, our salvation. Fortunately, God has a plan to help us let go of that interference. Very simply, that plan is to let go of the idea that separation offers anything of value. This is what forgiveness does.

Our part in God’s plan for salvation is to let go of belief in what could never be, to let go of the idea of being separate. We do this by bringing all our fearful and guilty thoughts to the Holy Spirit for His kind and gentle correction. All we need to do is be willing to accept His correction. Today our focus is to accept our part in God’s plan for salvation.

Choosing to Be Free

Every brother you meet becomes a witness for Christ or for the ego, depending on what you perceive in him. Everyone convinces you of what you want to perceive, and of the reality of the kingdom you have chosen for your vigilance. Everything you perceive is a witness to the thought system you want to be true. Every brother has the power to release you, if you choose to be free. (A Course in Miracles T-11.V.18:1-4)

Our practice for today is to choose freedom instead of the tyranny of the ego. We are all surrounded and enfolded in the Light of the one Christ Mind. Whether we choose to recognize It is up to us in each moment of the day. Accepting the peace and Love of the Christ Mind, our real Mind, is how we find our freedom. We become witnesses for Christ instead of the ego’s images of separate bodies. We become witnesses to Love’s all-encompassing oneness instead of the ego’s belief in separation from God. We choose to be free today by becoming witnesses for God and His eternal Light.

We witness for God by demonstrating that we accept the oneness of the Love that we are. With this acceptance, we see only Love in our brother and identify only with the loving Self that we are. With this acceptance, we experience the joyous flow of Love to Love, seeing no distance or separation between us and our brothers. This is the happiness God wills for us.

Letting Christ Express Through Us

It cannot be that it is hard to do the task that Christ appointed you to do, since it is He Who does it. And in the doing of it will you learn the body merely seems to be the means to do it. For the Mind is His. And so it must be yours. His Holiness directs the body through the mind at one with Him. (A Course in Miracles T-25.I.1:1-5)

All efforting comes from thinking we are separate and alone. That belief in separation denies the strength of Christ in us. It denies that we remain as God created us. It denies that we share God’s Will.

All this denial is tiring. It leaves us drained at the end of the day so that we have to rest the body that is the symbol of this separation. All we need to do to be revitalized in truth is to accept the Life that is already in us and is What we are in truth.

With this acceptance we no longer need to defend against or fear the Will of God. In fact we joyously accept this Will, which is our happiness. When we accept this Will we share with God, we accept the Christ that we are and all our doing becomes simply a matter of letting Christ express through us. There is nothing else to do. Today we practice stepping back and letting Christ express through us.

Let Him Lead the Way

Let Him evaluate each thought that comes to mind, remove the elements of dreams, and give them back again as clean ideas that do not contradict the Will of God.

…Now has our ministry begun at last, to carry round the world the joyous news that truth has no illusions, and the peace of God, through us, belongs to everyone. (A Course in Miracles W-pI.151.13:4,17:3)

If we want to be happy, we need to let go of trying to interpret anything on our own. Believing that we are on our own is the denial of happiness because it is the denial of the Self that God created as His Son. This is why the practice of letting the Holy Spirit, our true Self, be the Interpreter of everything is the key to happiness. He knows that nothing that the body’s senses perceive means anything and looks past it to the truth that is the Spirit of Love in everyone and everything. It is the recognition of this that brings happiness. We want to be happy and so our practice today is to put the Holy Spirit to the forefront of our minds as our preferred Interpreter in every moment. This is how we let Him lead the way.

Trust in the Spirit of Love, Our True Identity

As peace extends from deep inside yourself to embrace all the Sonship and give it rest, [peace] will encounter many obstacles. Some [obstacles] you will try to impose. Others will seem to arise from elsewhere; from your brothers, and from various aspects of the world outside. Yet peace will gently cover [these obstacles], extending past completely unencumbered. The extension of the Holy Spirit’s purpose from your relationship to others, to bring them gently in, is the way in which He will bring means and goal in line. The peace He lay, deep within you and your brother, will quietly extend to every aspect of your life, surrounding you and your brother with glowing happiness and the calm awareness of complete protection. (A Course in Miracles T-19.IV.1:1-6)

When we are willing to accept Holy Spirit’s precious gift of peace, a sense of well-being and inner contentment comes with it. The beingness of our true Identity as the Spirit of Love comes with accepting peace. The fearful stories of vulnerability, weakness and death fall away. We know that we are safe in the certainty of God’s changeless Love.

As we become more willing to claim the peace of our true Identity, our trust in God replaces our misplaced trust in the ego’s false stories based on being separate from God. Our trust in the Spirit of Love we are shines away the old and tired attraction to the false images of separation from our Source. We value the peace of our true Identity more than we value the ever-changing fearful stories of sickness, vulnerability and death. The peace of our true Identity helps us see past bodies to the Spirit of Love that is eternal everywhere. We let peace embrace the whole Sonship and give it rest from all the turmoil of the world. We put peace first today.

Accepting True Perception

f you are willing to accept what is true in everything you perceive, you let it be true for you. Truth overcomes all error, and those who live in error and emptiness can never find lasting solace. If you perceive truly you are cancelling out misperceptions in yourself and in others simultaneously. Because you see them as they are, you offer them your acceptance of their truth so they can accept it for themselves. This is the healing that the miracle induces. (A Course in Miracales T-3.II.6:3-7)

While we believe we are on our own, it is impossible to perceive truly. True perception is based on the recognition of oneness. We connect with this recognition through the Holy Spirit in our mind, Who knows that only the oneness of Love is real.

To accept true perception, we must be willing to accept Holy Spirit’s vision. This vision will show us our innocence. It will show us the changeless in ourselves, our brothers and God. The more we maintain a state of peace, the more receptive we are to the Holy Spirit’s true perception. This is our practice today.
