The Great Release from Time

Mary:
This morning in our reading of A Course in Miracles, we came across one of the most helpful passages of the Text for me:

Forgiveness is the great release from time. It is the key to learning that the past is over. Madness speaks no more. There is no other teacher and no other way. For what has been undone no longer is. And who can stand upon a distant shore, and dream himself across an ocean to a place and time that have long since gone by? How real a hindrance be to where he really is? For this is fact, and does not change whatever dreams he has. Yet can he still imagine he is elsewhere, and in another time. In the extreme, he can delude himself that this is true, and pass from mere imagining into belief and into madness, quite convinced that where he would prefer to be, he is. (T-26.V.6)

This paragraph really helps me let go of taking the world so seriously. This world of separate bodies truly is just a dream and could never be true. We are all safe in the Mind of Love. We are just imagining that we are elsewhere and in another time. Forgiveness helps release me from this great delusion. My opportunity today is to remain open to my inner Teacher, Who reminds me that in truth we all have never left Heaven, and illusions of separation are nothing and nowhere. This remembering returns me to peace and remembering that we all are safe. Thank you God.

Robert:
When I am dreaming at night, the bed, the room, the house my body is in are completely excluded from my awareness. My “reality” is the images of a dream and nothing else seems to exist. Likewise, the dream of this world that seems to be filled with separate bodies and separate things excludes awareness of the Home that I am in and could never leave. While I believe in the dream, Heaven is unknown.

Because Heaven is reality and the dream is unreal, I cannot experience Heaven while I believe one aspect of the dream is real. That is why forgiveness is the great release from time. Forgiveness is the release from belief in separation, symbolized by time and distance. Forgiveness lets go of symbols as they are recognized as meaningless.

My job is to be willing to be taught by the Inner Teacher to recognize the meaningless. This is why I must question everything I perceive and everything I believe. The willingness to question opens the door to be taught anew by the Teacher Whose only purpose is to lead me Home. Today I will practice stepping back from each perception to receive the Holy Spirit’s vision.

The Certainty of Love

Mary:
This is my prayer to Holy Spirit today:
Holy Spirit, take over my mind, for on my own I know nothing. Shine your Light on all the false ideas that come up for healing. Right now I put out the welcome mat and open the door to your peace. The peace of God is all I want and need. I dedicate today to accepting Your peace and healed perception. In truth I have no mind that is separate from Yours. Help me recognize this today. Amen.

Robert:
I remember a line from an early Garfield movie: “I need my space.” I can still hear it in my mind and it makes me chuckle. I realize that I have my own version of this. My version would be: “I need my plan.” I see that my tendency is to place my sense of security and trust in having a plan. I frequently remind myself to place the future in the hands of God.

But I see that this can be a halfhearted reminder. Half my heart really wants to wake up to the certainty of Love. The other half is still invested in the dream. So if Holy Spirit doesn’t show up with a satisfactory plan, I take back the future and start making my own plan. The thing is this never brings me peace, because all my plans are based on the past. Thus my plans are built upon illusions and can never offer me safety and peace.

So today my prayer is: I place the future in Your Hands. Strengthen my willingness with with Your certainty. Help me to remember the many times I have experienced the blessing of following Your plan. And when my thoughts turn back to old, worn ideas of what might make me safe, shine your Light upon them and help me remember Where my true safety lies. Thank you.

The Memory of Love

Robert and Mary:
We want to share about yesterday morning’s Sunday teleconference service and celebration of Rev. Kathy Thompson’s life, because it was so very moving for us. We put Holy Spirit in charge and just went with the flow.

It was a love feast in recognition of the love constantly reflected by both Kathy and Rev. Bob Thompson. The sharing by everyone there was touching and profound. Towards the end of the service Bob sang a song that he wrote about his experience with Kathy. His song expressed his thoughts about their shared purpose of being of service and extending love with an open door to everyone. Rev. Mary Daw played a very moving Celine Dion song titled, “Because you loved me.”

After the service Sean Mulcahy shared extensively about his gratitude to Bob and Kathy during his extended stay at Bumpity. He said “I know that Kathy and Bob were and are always available to me whenever I had a need.” He went on to say that, “I will have the Bumpity experience with me forever.” This is just a sampling of the expressions of gratitude that were shared for both Bob and Kathy. We are grateful that they are in our lives. The whole experience was very uplifting and energizing.

We would like to share with you this quote from A Course in Miracles Text:

What is one cannot be perceived as separate, and the denial of the separation is the reinstatement of knowledge. At the altar of God, the holy perception of God’s Son becomes so enlightened that light streams into it, and the spirit of God’s Son shines in the Mind of the Father and becomes one with it. Very gently does God shine upon Himself, loving the extension of Himself that is His Son. (T-12.VI.7:1-3)

Today it is our opportunity to deny the denial of the truth, looking past form to the Love in everyone.

I place the future in the Hands of God.

Mary:
This morning we were guided to read Lesson 194, “I place the future in the Hands of God.” This is what stood out to me

As [I place the future in the hands of God} becomes a thought that rules your mind, a habit in your problem-solving repertoire, a way of quick reaction to temptation, you extend your learning to the world. And as you learn to see salvation in all things, so will the world perceive that it is safe. (W-pI.194.6:2-3)

In truth, we are all safe. In truth the future holds nothing but the Love of God. My focus today and every day is to remember that this is true and nothing else is true. Remembering this brings me peace and joy. It is my practice to let it become a thought that rules my mind, an automatic habit in my problem-solving repertoire. As I consistently remember to place the future in the Hands of God, my mind is healed and I extend healing to the world. And I give thanks for this remembering.

Robert:
I have observed as I watch my thoughts that I more quickly recognize judgments as they come up and frequently follow the judgmental thought with the idea, “It doesn’t matter.” When I do this, I experience relief. It’s like a pressure relief valve. Judgment brings with it the “pressure” of guilt. But when I remember it doesn’t matter, the guilt is released and the pressure disappears. Because of this practice, I am much less likely to get involved in discussions about things in the world and my days are more peaceful. Nothing in the world matters because only Love matters.

I have also observed that there is an area that I tend to protect from this practice. When it comes to the future, I am more likely to be tempted to make plans on my own and engage in them fully for a while before I recognize what I am doing. This is why it is important for me to add this valuable tool to my problem-solving repertoire: “I place the future in the Hands of God.” The more quickly I apply this idea to my temptations to plan, the greater will be my peace. I will remember I am safe and all my needs are met by the Source of all supply.

Today I will practice applying the happy idea, “I place the future in the Hands of God.”

I Rest in God

Robert:
I rest in God today, certain of His care and of His strength in me. I rest in God as I accept the Love He has given me. I rest in God when I see the Love and innocence in my brother.

There is no need to plan to protect myself from an unknown future. The future is here, now, as I rest in God. All His gifts are mine because He has given them to all. I have but one need and that is to extend the Love that is eternally given me by Love Itself. As I see the Love, I am the Love and I rest in God.

Holy Spirit, help me to see only Love today.

Mary:
In quiet, I hear Kathy reminding me again and again, “Only Love matters.” I rejoice with her in this wonderful time of awakening to the truth that we all are Love and only Love matters. I give time to remembering this truth today.

Rest in Love Today

Holy Spirit to Robert:
Nothing the body’s eyes show you will save you or set you free. It is in the recognition that everything the body’s eyes see has no meaning that you are released from the belief in separation. You cannot reach this recognition on your own because nothing in the world can teach you this. But you have in your mind a Teacher Who will bring the full recognition to you of what is unreal and what is real.

Hold nothing back. Trust not in your own “ability” to interpret what anything in this world means. If you would be free and know the peace of God, you must step aside as your own interpreter, turn every interpretation over to the Holy Spirit and open your mind to His replacement. Anything you withhold from Him will only prolong your experience of the hell you made.

The body can only perceive conflict and this is hell. The Holy Spirit sees no conflict and when you allow His interpretation to replace yours, you will withdraw all meaning you give to the world. The meaning that the Holy Spirit replaces it with is Love. He will teach you that only Love is there to see. Only Love is there to be. Rest in Love today by letting Him be your interpreter.

Mary:
Today it is my opportunity to remember that I rest in God today. I rest in Love, now and forever. Today it is my opportunity to remember that this is true about everyone I perceive in the world. No matter what fear thoughts may come up for us, the truth is we all rest in God.

Loss is not possible in God and we all remain in God. What God creates is eternal and only what God creates is true. My practice for today is to remember that I rest in God all through the day. What peace and joy come with remembering this.

Let Yourself Be Carried to the Vision of Christ

Robert:
It is clear to me that the more I withdraw the importance I give to the forms of the world and redirect my valuing to the reality of Love that is everywhere, the happier I am. Happiness is an attribute of Love. As I let Holy Spirit show me the Love beyond every image, happiness is inevitable.

I want to be happy. To be happy I need only be willing to let go of everything I value in the world of form and let Holy Spirit show me the Love that is always there. It is my judgments that make life seem complicated. It is forgiveness that simplifies life and makes way for the happiness God wills for me and everyone.

My prayer today is very simple: Holy Spirit, help me to see the Love beyond every image.

Holy Spirit to Mary:
Remember that the world you see through the body’s eyes is just illusion because separate forms are not of God. Once you remember that it is an illusion, you can take the next step with Me. I will show you the reality beyond every illusion, if you are willing.

You see what you want to see. Join with Me to see Christ’s vision. You can tell if you have joined with Me by the level of peace you feel. Accept the peace I extend to you and let yourself be carried to the vision of Christ. This is your practice today.
