Every Moment Is an Opportunity to See Love

Mary:
As I continue with my practice of awakening from this world, I see that I am presented with many opportunities every day. An example of this showed up yesterday, when we went to the grocery store. As we stood in line, the checkout clerk was upset and rolling her eyes at the person in front of us. The young woman had taken the box of chicken out of the bag to have a piece and put the empty bag with the price on it on the counter to be scanned. The clerk said sharply, “What am I to do with this?” as she lifted up the empty bag. The clerk looked at us as if to say, “See what I have to put up with?”

As I witnessed this scene, inside I asked my inner Teacher for help. What I received back was that this clerk was in a painful state of mind and was therefore projecting onto what she saw as outside of her. The Holy Spirit showed me that this was an opportunity to see the Christ in her instead of focusing on the image of an angry clerk.

Our reading this morning in A Course in Miracles focused on reinforcing what my real job always is in every situation: “By focusing upon the good in him, the body grows decreasingly persistent in your sight, and will at length be seen as little more than just a shadow circling round the good. And this will be your concept of yourself, when you have reached the world beyond the sight your eyes alone can offer you to see. For you will not interpret what you see without the Aid That God has given you. And in His sight there is another world.” (ACIM T-31.VII.3:3-6)

These four sentences encapsulate what my job always is. This is how I wake up from the dream. This is forgiveness. Nothing else really matters. Today I am given another opportunity to let my mind be transformed by the Holy Spirit.

Robert:
The quote above is talking about not taking the world seriously. As the body and the images of the world become less persistent, become less “real,” it is easier to laugh at the insane imaginings of the ego thought system. In truth there is nothing worthy of disturbing the peace given me by God.

Today I will practice seeing through Christ’s vision, which will always show me the good, the Love, beyond the image. With the Holy Spirit’s help, I will use His “illusions filter” that will make illusions less dense and threatening so that I can see past them to the reality of Love. This is my job today.

I Love My Brother Who Is One with Me

Mary:
This morning in our reading of A Course in Miracles, this is what really stood out to me: “Those who receive the Father are one with Him, being host to Him Who created them. And by allowing Him to enter, the remembrance of the Father enters with Him, and with Him they remember the only relationship they ever had, and ever want to have.” (ACIM, T-15.XI.9:4-5)

As I read these two sentences slowly several times, a sense of peace enters… I feel a stronger connection with the Holy Spirit… The feeling that everything is in perfect order comes with it…

The idea that comes to mind is that today my job is to practice receiving the Father, Which is Love, and practice seeing through the eyes of Love today. The feeling that comes with it is that I will have such a gentle day as I practice this. I look forward to receiving the Father and being host to Him. I look forward to remembering that it is the only relationship I ever really had and ever want to have.

Robert:
Recently I received a letter in which my motives and everything that I value appeared to be questioned. The ego, being well trained as a first responder, reacted with guilt and defensiveness. But my next thought was that the words were simply an expression of the ego and had nothing to do with the person I identified as writing them.

The ego is not the truth about anyone. It is just an hallucination, a false image that could never be true. The feelings brought up initially simply demonstrated that I was believing in a false image, not only of my brother, but of myself. I could not have perceived attack if I did not, in that moment, believe that I was not as God created me.

I am grateful for A Course in Miracles and my daily practice of applying its principles in my life. It took me about a half an hour to step back and return fully to peace. I offered my perception to the Holy Spirit and asked for help to see as He sees. As I accepted Holy Spirit’s help, my heart filled with Love and I saw my brother as my dear friend. Defensiveness faded away to nothing. There was no need for judgment, only a natural and automatic sense of embracing my brother with Love.

Now whenever I think of this person, my heart overflows with Love. The words have faded away and what is reflected back to me is my savior, the holy Son of God. I love my brother who is one with me. What started as a perception of attack has been transformed to the gift of Love. And I give thanks.

You Are Not Alone

Mary:
In A Course in MIracles it talks about wrong-mindedness and right-mindedness, which is either the ego mind or the united Mind of the Holy Spirit. I see that today it is my job to pay attention to which mind I am joining. It is my job to pay attention to the level of peace I am experiencing.

In truth, every brother is the pure Light of God, including myself. In fact, we are one Light; there is no distance between us. Am I letting myself be aware of this as I go through my day? My job today is to be vigilant only for God and His Kingdom. This is how I am truly helpful to myself and every brother.

Holy Spirit to Robert:
Today is another day to practice remembering that you are not alone. I am with you always. When you join with Me, each moment becomes an expression of Love. Love and peace are reflected back to you in the world. Pause frequently today to step back from your doing and reconnect with our peace. The more you practice this, the more your doing will be in peace and ease. It will be a day of awakening to your Self.

Let Me See as Love Sees

Holy Spirit to Robert:
The ego is a pessimist. Nothing is ever good enough for it, including all of God’s Love and joy and peace. The ego wants specialness — to have more than everything, and especially to have more than ‘others.’ Even when it seems to have achieved a high level of specialness, the pessimistic ego has an underlying fear that it won’t last or it can be taken away. This fear is justified because the specialness is just an illusion and cannot be real. Because the ego has pinned its value on illusion, it must ‘live’ in fear.

The ego is not you. Do not accept its identity as yours. The truth of you remains unchanged by weird imaginings of having more than everything. The truth in you is all of God’s Love, all of God’s peace, all of God’s joy. This is what you are and will forever be.

Stand quietly in Love’s Light and know that you are loved beyond measure.… Take comfort in the safety of Love’s quiet peace… and accept the gift of perfect happiness that Love brings with It…. This is What you are. Deny It no longer. See with the eyes of truth that you remain as God created you, safe and whole in Heaven.

As you go through this day, remind yourself frequently “I remain as God created me. His perfect peace is mine. Let me see as Love sees.”

Mary:
This is my practice today: “Let me see as Love sees.” This is very direct and simple, but it will take vigilance to stay on Love’s track. Love will guide me Home if I am willing to join with It today.

Spending the Day with God

Robert:
Today we read question 16 in the Manual for Teachers of A Course in Miracles, “How should a teacher of God spend his day?” This section comforted and inspired me. It acknowledges that in our journey of awakening, we will experience temptation to perceive the world and separation as real. But it assures us that there is a way out and provides helpful keys that we can use to bring our attention back to the recognition of what is real and where our safety lies.

My job is to hold the dedication to following Holy Spirit’s lead all through the day. In addition to this commitment, I must be vigilant to recognize when I have fallen into the temptation to attempt to resolve perceived problems on my own. This is what the Course calls “magic,” because it is attempting to manipulate illusions to solve an illusionary problem.

The resolution of all problems in the world always comes with the recognition that only Love is real, only oneness is real. But on my own I cannot distinguish between illusion and reality. So to step out of temptation, I must turn to the Holy Spirit with an open mind and heart to receive His vision, which will show me true resolution of every perceived problem, of every disturbance of my peace.

I have a mighty Companion Who will always lead me truly to the experience of my eternal safety and happiness in Love. I am inspired again today to practice following Holy Spirit’s lead throughout the day.

Holy Spirit to Mary:
In truth you are immersed in God’s sea of peace… In truth you are Love in the Mind of Love… Give yourself the time to let the truth return to your mind… Let your true Self be in charge of your mind today… This is how you give the day to God.

Do not try to dictate to God what your day will be like. Give the day to your inner Comforter. You will know you have done this by the level of peace you feel. Have a peace-filled day.

Allowing Peace in the Present Moment

Holy Spirit to Mary:
God’s Love is the only Love there is. In God’s Love, all has all, all is all. In God’s Love, all is one. There is no conflict here. There are no differences. God’s Love is all there is in truth.

Returning to the awareness of God’s Love is how you return Home. Accepting God’s gift of peace in the present moment opens the door to the awareness of Love’s eternal presence, right now. Give time to accepting God’s peace. As you do this consistently all through the day, you will be led to the awareness that you are Home in God eternally.

Be willing to let the door be opened for you by accepting the quietness and comfort of God’s peace today. Accept God’s peace and you will have a happy day.

Holy Spirit to Robert:
Focus today on staying in peace and following in each present moment. As you remember to hold your attention on the present, you open the door for the future to be an extension of the peace and happiness of the present instead of a repeat of the past, with its guilt and fear. This is an important time for you to do this practice. This practice opens the door for you to the experience of the certainty and safety of God’s Love reflected in the world you perceive. It opens the door to true perception.

The form in which you share in the expression of Love’s extension in this world will come easily and naturally to you through this practice. For this practice clears away the veil that has interfered with your awareness of Love’s presence now. Practice today and experience the happiness of now.

Step Back and Follow

Robert:
Yesterday I had a great experience with what happens when I am willing to let go, step back and let Spirit take the lead. There was something I was trying to do on the web site that I had not been able to find a way to do. I set it aside and did other things. Then one night an idea came to me that would help me do what needed to be done. I followed the inspiration and everything fell into place.

It was a wonderful demonstration that Spirit will guide me in what to do and how to do it, even in the world of form. I am pleased to have gotten done what needed to be done. But this is secondary to the lesson that Holy Spirit is ever present, leading me in peace to Where I am in truth. I can trust in His guidance. His guidance will be reflected in the world of form, but the form itself is meaningless. What is meaningful is that Holy Spirit, my true Self, is ever present, teaching me that I am free and without limits, that nothing really stands between my Self and God.

This experience reinforces the value of the practice of stepping back, going to peace and following Holy Spirit’s lead. All I really want is to fulfill my true purpose and I do this by following Holy Spirit’s lead. So today I will continue to practice stepping back and opening my heart and mind to Holy Spirit’s lead.

Mary:
How do I step back? The first step is for me to be willing to accept the peace of the Holy Spirit. This is accomplished by letting my mind quiet and asking Holy Spirit to take over my mind.

This process helps me rise above the battleground… From this place of quietness, the Holy Spirit gently shows me the difference between the real and the unreal… The Holy Spirit lifts the veil of separation and that which is not real disappears… There is no specialness here… There are no differences… There is no conflict…

The Holy Spirit shows me that this is what is true now… The Holy Spirit shows me that when my mind is not at peace, I am simply entertaining illusions that are not true… The Holy Spirit shows me that I can let the veil be lifted to see the eternal truth… Here there are no limits, no specialness, no degrees, no time… only eternal peace…

This is how I let go and let God. And I give thanks for Holy Spirit’s lessons.
