Accepting the Strength of God in Us

Put not your faith in illusions. They will fail you. Put all your faith in the Love of God within you; eternal, changeless and forever unfailing. This is the answer to whatever confronts you today. Through the Love of God within you, you can resolve all seeming difficulties without effort and in sure confidence. Tell yourself [I am the sustained by the Love of God] often today. It is a declaration of release from the belief in idols. It is your acknowledgment of the truth about yourself. (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.50.4)

All our strength comes from the Love of God in us. The image of being a body and looking upon a world of forms is an empty illusion with no power of its own. While we identify with being a body, it does seem that we are vulnerable, subject to attack and needing to protect ourselves.

Today’s affirmation, “I am sustained by the Love of God,” helps us remember the truth about What we are. As we progress from this being a comforting idea to recognizing that this is the truth about us, we move from living in fear to living in peace and joy. This practice is the greatest gift we can give ourselves today.

Willingness to Accept God’s Gifts

Let us this day accept forgiveness as our only function. Why should we attack our minds, and give [our minds] images of pain? Why should we teach [our minds] they are powerless, when God holds out His power and His Love, and bids [our minds] take what is already theirs? The mind that is made willing to accept God’s gifts has been restored to spirit, and extends its freedom and its joy, as is the Will of God united with its own. The Self which God created cannot sin, and therefore cannot suffer. Let us choose today that He be our Identity, and thus escape forever from all things the dream of fear appears to offer us. (A Course in Miracles, W-pII.330.1)

Willingness to forgive is willingness to accept God’s gifts. Forgiveness ends suffering. Forgiveness means letting go of the idea that we could have another will than God’s. Forgiveness accepts God’s will as ours and allows us to accept our one Identity which we share with God. Today we are willing to accept God’s gifts of Love and peace and joy as ours. Today will be a day of forgiveness.

Remembering Our Home in Heaven

Whether we realize it or not, we rest eternally in Love’s warm embrace. We rest eternally in the strength of God. Imagine what it would be like to go through a day feeling perfectly safe, lacking nothing, in perfect peace with our hearts overflowing with joy.

This is what we can experience by laying down all our judgments and our beliefs and concepts of being alone and separate. Not having this heavenly experience is the price we pay for choosing to believe that we are separate and alone, with a unique identity. This need not be. We have a Guide, given us in Love, to lead us out of the confusion that comes with believing in a false identity.

Today we choose to walk in Love with our Guide Who will help us look beyond our mistaken concepts to see the Love in every brother and thereby learn of the Love we are. And we will move a step closer to the remembrance of our Home in Heaven.

We Are All the Same Eternal Spirit

We practice remembering the truth that we are all the same eternal Spirit throughout the day today. We are one Spirit of Love That is all-encompassing and cannot change into something else. We are willing to remember the truth about ourselves and everyone today. We are Love eternally. We allow this focus to bring us peace, happiness and eternal joy. And we give thanks that only this is true.

The Joy of Forgiveness

There is a popular cookbook called

The Joy of Cooking.

It is filled with tips and recipes for preparing food for the body.

A Course in Miracles could also be called The Joy of Forgiveness. It is filled with tips and recipes to nourish our minds to help us accept the gift of Life given us in our creation. Just as in cooking recipes that have a variety of forms and tastes, the Course offers a variety of forgiveness recipes.

We have an inner forgiveness Chef who offers us wonderful recipes to help us dissolve the barriers to Love’s Presence so that our real Life can emerge and fill our awareness. Each encounter, each experience contains ingredients we can offer to the Holy Spirit Who will use them to ‘cook up’ a delightful lesson in Love that brings joy to our hearts.

Today we dedicate to offering the ingredients of each moment to the Holy Spirit with eager willingness to receive the transformation that reveals the joyous holiness we share with all.

Learning to See the Truth in Everyone

Again and again we are reminded to make no decisions on our own. Thinking we are on our own in a world of separation means that the only choices we see are all illusions — all the same. They are really not choices at all.

The only meaningful choice is to choose the oneness of God’s Love. To do this we must be willing to accept that we are not on our own and follow the Guide Whose purpose is to show us the real choice that is before us in every moment. When we are willing, the Holy Spirit will show us the oneness of Love beyond the veil of images of separation.

With His help we can make the only meaningful decision — to decide for the oneness of Love. Every brother represents the only choice we have. We can choose to see him as a body, thereby choosing illusion. Or we can choose to look beyond the body to see him as our one Self, to see the truth.

Forgiveness is the means that releases us from choosing illusion and opens our vision to see our brother truly. Today we ask from deep within our hearts for the Holy Spirit’s help to see the truth in everyone that we may recognize the truth within ourselves.

Seeing Oneness Instead of Separation

Oneness and sickness cannot coexist. God’s teachers choose to look on dreams a while. It is a conscious choice. For they have learned that all choices are made consciously, with full awareness of their consequences. The dream says otherwise, but who would put his faith in dreams once they are recognized for what they are? Awareness of dreaming is the real function of God’s teachers. They watch the dream figures come and go, shift and change, suffer and die. Yet they are not deceived by what they see. They recognize that to behold a dream figure as sick and separate is no more real than to regard it as healthy and beautiful. Unity alone is not a thing of dreams. And it is this God’s teachers acknowledge as behind the dream, beyond all seeming and yet surely theirs. (A Course in Miracles, M-12.6.)

Our job is to not be deceived by what we see with the body’s eyes. We will be deceived if we try to interpret these images on our own. We need to ask the Holy Spirit, our true Self in our minds, to be our interpreter in all things.
The Holy Spirit is not deceived by dreams of separation.

As we practice letting Holy Spirit be our full time Interpreter, we will become aware that we are dreaming. We will learn to look past the veil of the dream to the changeless Reality that we remain Love as Love created us. Separation will be recognized as nothing and having no effect. We will recognize every brother as our one Self and we will join with each one in joyous peace. Every encounter becomes a celebration of Love as we let the Holy Spirit teach us what is true and what is false.

We dedicate today to the practice of letting the Holy Spirit be our full time interpreter.
