The Movie Dream

As I am willing to see things differently, the gift is given and received.

Me: “Holy Spirit, how can I look at or feel the things that I’ve hidden, so that I can give them to you? The ego feels very threatened in this.”

Spirit: “That is the belief that you are not lovable, not accepted as you are right now.” 

Me: “I would like to let this belief go, now and forever. Please help me in this. I want to recognize and release those thoughts that block my awareness of Love. I want to remember Love.”

Spirit: “When you are the dreamer of the dream but do not realize it, everything that happens seems to come from ‘outside’ of you. You seem to have no control over the circumstance or others. Yet you are the dreamer. In your mind you made a world and filled it with bodies and billions of stories. And then you forgot that you made up the dream, and all the actors in it.

“If you are the dreamer, then nothing can be ‘done’ to you. Nothing can happen without your wish for it to be.

“When you took your journey from one state to another, you had no plan, no idea what would happen, yet you felt loved and guided. It was the choice in your mind that made it seem to be a positive step forward. It was your choice to ‘see’ it as a wholly helpful move, for this was the wish you held.

“You also thought that by making a physical move you could leave behind your past, and the roles that others seemed to have placed you in. But it was only you who put ‘you’ into certain roles or identities. It is you who have made the world what it seems to be, and you can learn that it is not so.”

Two days after this dialog with Spirit, I had a sleeping dream in which I was given the idea that I am ALL the actors that I see in my waking dream. I am the projector and dreamer of the movie I seem to be involved in. My delusional mind has made up all other players, acts out those roles, and instantly forgets that it has done so.

All the actors simply show me either my hidden thoughts that need correction, or they reflect the Love that I am behind all the masks and denial I have made. Every time I am able to look beyond the mask of an actor, I can choose to forgive the thought that made him/her. I cannot find my way out of the dream/movie without direction from One who sees what is true and what is false.

I can depend on this Inner Director to guide me, as He gives me only truth. I let the false go as easily as dropping a robe from my shoulders. I can let go of the false as I recognize that this movie has never brought me peace, joy or love. When I look with my Director, I see with eyes of Love. That gives me unlimited vision.

I am forever grateful for this Director Who holds the truth for me and helps me see beyond the movie/dream!

Letting Go: A New Beginning

I am honestly at a complete loss for what is supposed to be happening in my life right now. I’m asking but not receiving any clear direction other than trust. Trusting is very hard for me because each day something else seems to take a new direction. It’s like a purging of all of my attachments, even people that are dear to me.

Much of this doesn’t seem to be happening by my own choice, other than my desire to follow God’s Will for my life. Why aren’t I able to trust and let go? I guess I’m afraid. Yet at this moment I feel that I have nothing and no one save Holy Spirit’s Voice.

In fact, due to even more unexpected developments in my finances and close personal relationships, I find myself feeling that I’m balancing on a precipice, surrounded by the clouds that Jesus once helped me transcend. Everything that seemed familiar and comfortable to me is gone, or fading.

Yet, I must once and for all entirely let go of the past and fully open to the present along with whatever it entails for the future.

Spirit has thankfully provided a strategy that can help me get to the other side if I follow His instructions. The Course urges: “Simply do this: Be still, and lay aside all thoughts of what you are and what God is; all concepts you have learned about the world; all images you hold about yourself. Empty your mind of everything it thinks is either true or false, or good or bad, of every thought it judges worthy, and all of the ideas of which it is ashamed. Hold onto nothing. Do not bring with you one thought the past has taught, nor one belief you ever learned before from anything. Forget this world, forget this course, and come with wholly empty hands onto your God.” (W-pI.189.7)

In a way, I feel like a symbolic crucifixion is occurring in my life. After all, Jesus came to teach us that we were wrong about everything we ever believed about our world, ourselves, God and our relationship to him and one another.

In this wisdom, Jesus explained that it’s important for us to let go and understand that we may come to a point in our lives (spiritual and physical) where we realize that nothing in this world makes any sense, yet we can know we are safe and secure in God’s Divine Love.

At this juncture He encourages us to pray: “Father, we do not know the way to You. But we have called, and You have answered us. We will not interfere.

Salvation’s ways are not our own, for they belong to You. And it is unto You we look for them. Our hands are open to receive Your gifts. We have no thoughts we think apart from you, and cherish no beliefs of what we think we are, or Who created us. Yours is the way we would find and follow. And we ask but that Your Will, which is our own as well, be done in us and in the world, that it become a part of Heaven now. Amen. (W-pI.189.10; italics omitted).

Does this mean that I will arise on “Easter morning” all fresh and new in a metaphorical resurrection? I hope. It would make it all more worth it…

However, if I could just emerge balanced, loving, trusting and joyful, I would be truly grateful!

On this note, I will willingly do my best to let go of all of the things and people that seem to be making their exodus from my life. Still, I will hold a loving place for them as they find their own ways along the journey we began together so many years or lifetimes ago.

The Light Has Come

To see only the Light is Christ vision. To give up the belief in the power and reality of darkness is liberation.

The light has come. (Lesson 75) Let there be light. Today I will say to every brother: “The light in you is all that I would see, (name).” And just as I was in the middle of typing this, a friend came in. On his face was no light to be seen. He was carrying a problem, a conflict. I instantly affirmed the above and kept affirming it silently as he spoke. When he left he smiled and gave me a hug. IT IS WORTH THE PRACTICE!

I am under no laws but God’s. (Lesson 76)  “Here is the perfect statement of my freedom. I am under no laws but God’s. I am constantly tempted to make up other laws and give them power over me. I suffer only because of my belief in them.”

How perfectly this fits in with what I had discussed with my friend. I had said that we were constantly playing games in life with all sort of rules and regulations big and small. From the way a knife had to be put down at table (we had talked about this with another friend a few days before) to how we relate with a husband or wife.

These rules have been passed down for centuries and we took them on board. Whenever I am not happy or at peace, I know that I am trying to live by one of those rules. But I am under no laws but God’s. I shall straight away use this beautiful affirmation Jesus gives in this lesson: “Let me allow God’s laws to work in this, and not my own.”

Let me recognize the problem so it can be solved. (Lesson 79) “Everyone in this world seems to have his own special problems. Yet they are all the same, and must be recognized as one if the one solution that solves them all is to be accepted.”

A friend rang. He had a problem he would like to go away. The problem goes by the name of cancer. Another friend has a problem that goes by the name of studies. Another one has a relationship problem, another one a financial one and so on and so on. I sat down and read this lesson. Then the light came to my thought: I could clearly see that all of these dear people were putting the problem first! They kept looking at the problem. Then I remembered: everybody, including myself needs to put God first trustingly. I love giving my problems to the Holy Spirit and I walk away light hearted and free, bathing in the sunshine of God’s infinite Love and care.

Let me recognize my problems have been solved. (Lesson 80) Only as long as I am trying to find my own solutions to my problems, will I not find the one solution to the one problem! Why would I still want to do this?

It is pride which stands in the way of my salvation. I don’t seem to mind that I think that I am separated from God, Who is my Source. I want to be independent after all. I want to be self sufficient. I have been brought up to work out my own solutions. I have been told that this is empowering.

Now the Course is teaching me that I cannot be separated from my Source because God is my Life. I have indeed never been separated from God Who is Love and is All in all. I could only want to be separated in fantasy because I have a wrong concept of what God is. If He is some magnified human being then I certainly don’t want to be tied to Him. Which child would forever want to be tied to a parent? But if I look at Jesus’ parable of the lost son who apparently too thought that he needed to be away from home, I can see that by getting away I do not gain anything except the understanding that home is the best place to be.

Is this why I made up the dream? Well, as soon as things look bad, I certainly gladly return to my Father’s House. But what about the so-called pleasures of this life on earth? Will I let them go too? Yes, because I have had a taste of heavenly Love and the wonderful experience of His Presence. These propel me on with my inner work, because I do want that.

Deeper Awareness of My Soul

In working with a student
recently in a process which is part of course 802: Soul Awareness, I received the following as a message from my Divine Source.

Imagine a clear reflection as you look within. Keep your mind quiet, as still as water. When water is in turmoil or chaos you cannot see your clear reflection.

Use this image as a reminder to still your mind. I am here for you and will accept all thoughts and gladly exchange them for thoughts for peace. This is a reminder about walking the middle path; the path of non-judgment. Not seeing on your right… Not seeing on your left… Not good… bad… black… white.

Everything in this world only has the meaning that you give to it. Give no meaning and allow me to receive for you.

All I see is Love and Innocence. That is what is truly there behind the stillness of the middle path. Know serenity and peace.

When you want to judge, see a path in the woods cleared for you… The sun is shining and it’s beautiful. That is what it is like to walk the path.

Radiate Love and Light. Share it with your brothers. We live in joyful peace in all you say and do. Do not carry the chains of the past. Wherever you go… remember today.

The teachings that come from the world are only props and skits. The chains look real, but the chains are only props… illusion… not what you think it is. It fools you to believe that the illusion is real… but it is a game that you play with your mind.

You know that now. Continue on the path of Love and as your confidence grows so will the Love you extend to everyone.
