Choosing Holy Spirit’s Vision

Robert:
No one can disturb my peace of mind unless I see them as a body and myself as a body. The body is the ego’s mechanism for making it appear that my brother is separate from me and capable of harming me. Put another way, the body is the ego’s mechanism to make separation seem real.

The antidote for anything that disturbs my peace is to shift my allegiance from the ego’s investment in the body to the Holy Spirit’s certainty that I am God’s Son, along with everyone. When I choose to accept the Holy Spirit’s purpose, He will show me the vision of Christ, which sees all my brothers and me as one, wholly innocent in God’s Love. It is an exchange of the limited seeing of the body for the unlimited vision of Christ. Christ’s vision sees only Love, for only Love is real. The ego and its instrument, the body, cannot see Love because the ego is the denial of Love.

When I choose to align with Holy Spirit and accept His vision, the body becomes an instrument to serve Holy Spirit’s purpose of joining instead of the ego’s purpose of separating. The body then is used by the Holy Spirit as a means of communication in the world of form.

Today my practice is to hold my mind open to see with Christ’s vision and learn of the Love that is the Self I share with my brother. This vision will bring me joy and peace, for they are attributes of Love. 

Mary:
As I open to the quietness of God’s peace, I am led past the world of separate bodies to the formless world where all is One. I am shown that in Love’s oneness there can be no conflict, but only peace and joy.

Which world do I want to see? Where would I reside in my mind? I make the choice each moment and receive as I have asked. My practice today is to open to the way the Holy Spirit sees, where fear is impossible. The Christ is all there is to see. And I give thanks.

Seeing Past Time to Eternity

Robert:
Today we read the following in A Course in Miracles: “There is but one [holy instant]. The little breath of eternity that runs through time like golden light is all the same; nothing before it, nothing afterwards.” (T-20.V.5:7-8)

When we read this, an image came to mind that helped me understand. Imagine two parallel tracks. One is the track of time, broken into separate moments that seem to be different from all the other moments — everything changes in time. The parallel track is the golden light. It is one and changeless and so it is the same at any point along the line.

A holy instant occurs when we open our minds and allow the seeming gap between the line of time and the line of golden light to disappear. In that moment we experience the oneness and eternal changelessness of the golden light. Fear and guilt still held in our mind keeps us from keeping our full attention on the light so the connection seems to be broken and we return to the line of time. We again become unaware of the line of golden light that is still beside us.

As we move along the line of time we always have the potential to open our minds and let the connection come back into our awareness. The circumstances in the line of time seem to be different, so this holy instant seems to be different. Yet the golden light we connect to in that instant is still unchanged. It is still really the same holy instant, though it appears to be in a different setting in time.

Each time we allow ourselves to connect with the golden light of changeless, eternal Love, we bring back with us the experience of that connection. Being an experience of great peace and joy, it motivates us to clear away the barriers that limit our experience of this eternal Love. The more we clear away, the more we open to the connection that is always available to us. When we have let all judgment go, the line of time fades and we join the golden light of Love that is our true Self.

The practice of joining with the Holy Spirit to see the Christ in anyone and everyone opens our minds to the holy instant. Today my practice is to focus on the light of Love in anyone I meet or think of today. This is how I will learn of the Love that is my true Nature along with everyone’s.

Mary:
I love the image that Robert received from Holy Spirit showing us the difference between time and eternity. The eternal Love of God never changes. The good news is that I can choose to let the remembrance of the eternal return at any point in my experience of “time.”

My practice for today is to allow the Holy Spirit to remind me of the eternal truth in everyone. This helps me remember that the constantly changing stories found in time are not true and the eternal Love in everyone is true. Allowing this holy instant of truth brings me peace. It brings me joy. If I want to be happy today, I will allow the Holy Spirit to return me to the awareness of the eternal truth. Love is. God is. There is nothing else. And I give thanks.

Joining with Peace

Mary and Robert:
We are back from the ACIM International Conference in San Francisco. It was a wonderful event where we met many old and new friends. We had a lot of time with Nouk Sanchez and she shared in depth about the healing experience she had with Tomas during his transition. Tomas truly did use the situation as a platform to fully awaken to the one Christ Mind we all share. We are all blessed by his dedication and willingness to go beyond all judgment and accept the Love that we all are.

It’s nice to be back home now and take time to remember the peace of God within. In our reading in A Course in Miracles this morning, this is what stood out to us.

Sit quietly and close your eyes. The light within you is sufficient. It alone has power to give the gift of sight to you. Exclude the outer world, and let your thoughts fly to the peace within. They know the way. For honest thoughts, untainted by the dream of worldly things outside yourself, become the holy messengers of God Himself. (W-pI.188.6)

What stands out the most is “let your thoughts fly to the peace within.” Giving time to joining with the peace of our one Source is the same as joining with the strength of God instead of the weakness of the ego’s thoughts of separation. We see that taking time for this is very important. Joining with the still waters of God’s peace is very helpful after so much outer activity. We feel so grateful for God’s gift of peace that is always there as we are willing to join with it. It is all we want; it is all we need.

From this powerful experience of peace, we remember the strength of God in us, and we are guided to extend it to the world in all our doing. “The peace of God is shining in you now, and from your heart extends around the world. It pauses to caress each living thing, and leaves a blessing with it that remains forever and forever. And what [peace] gives must be eternal.” (188.3:1-3)

Joining My True Self’s Function

Holy Spirit to Robert:
To let go of judgment is to release yourself from hell. In order to believe you can judge, you must first believe you are separate and consequently believe you are denied Love. This denial does not come from God; it is your denial. The hunger for Love that is the condition of this world is the effect of the refusal to accept God’s gift of Love. Love is everywhere, but it is not experienced because of Its denial. The experience of lovelessness is hell. It is based on a lie but because it is believed to be true, it is experienced as real.

My function in your mind is to help you with the one purpose that will set you free. This purpose is to forgive the world, let go of the past and come with wholly empty hands to the present moment. My function is to help you do this, but you must be willing to accept My help.

Practice today bringing all your thoughts to Me and let Me interpret on your behalf. Your thoughts of Love I will strengthen and join with you in extending. Your thoughts of fear and guilt I will shine on with the Love of God to show you they are based on nothing and can have no effect. Join with me today and let us look upon the world together. With your acceptance, we will see the real world, the forgiven world. And you will know the peace that is your reality.

Holy Spirit to Mary:
Today, let yourself be carried. Relax, choose peace and follow as you are led through inward vision. Place your trust in Love to show you the way and this will give you a peaceful and happy day.

Thought Reversal

Mary:
As we read in A Course in MIracles this morning, it occurred to me how helpful the Course is in reversing the whole thought system of the ego. This complete thought reversal is necessary and this is what time is for now. The ego thought system is based on guilt and so it is guilt that must be undone by the Holy Spirit. In Text, Chapter 13, Introduction, it says:

For it is guilt that has obscured the Father to you, and it is guilt that has driven you insane. The acceptance of guilt into the mind of God’s Son was the beginning of the separation, as the acceptance of the Atonement is its end. …This world is a picture of the crucifixion of God’s Son. And until you realize that God’s Son cannot be crucified, this is the world you will see. Yet you will not realize this until you accept the eternal fact that God’s Son is not guilty. (T-13.Intro.1:7,2:1,4:1-3)

This complete thought reversal which the Course leads us to helps us understand that instead of separation, everyone still is part of God’s one Family of Universal Love. We learn that everyone is united in the one Mind of God. Everyone is totally innocent. The mad stories of guilt that are found in this world of separation in truth are nothing and nowhere.

It is the Holy Spirit Who resides in our mind eternally That frees us from the picture of the crucifixion of God’s Son. Today is a day of practice letting my inner Teacher show me the true innocence that lies in everyone. Herein lies my freedom and the freedom of the whole Sonship. Holding grievances is not what heals. Healing lies in the willingness to let the veil be lifted to see the face of Christ. This is my practice for today. And I give thanks.

Robert:
We read today that peace and guilt cannot coexist. So if I want to be at peace, I need to forgive. This tells me that any disturbance of my peace is a signal that there is unforgiveness in my mind. I am reacting to an appearance in the present based on a belief or experience I am bringing from the past. Without the past I would see nothing but the present and only Love is now.

To have peace I need to give my full attention to the only meaningful function in this world — to forgive, to let go of the past. ACIM is very clear that I need help with this. My part is to be willing to look at my fear thoughts and offer them to the Holy Spirit. His part is to shine the Light of truth on them. He will show me that what I thought justified guilt had no effect whatsoever. Without effect, there is no cause for guilt and I remain innocent as Love created me.

My practice today is to be mindful of my level of peace and to bring all disturbing thoughts to the Holy Spirit for His purification. Only joy can come of this.

Receiving Inspiration

Robert:
To be in peace does not mean to be lackadaisical or enervated. It is through being in peace that I receive inspiration, which is energizing and joyful. When I am inspired, I am motivated by Love, the Source of inspiration. Love automatically extends, because that is Its nature. So when I allow myself to be inspired in peace, joy is magnified, because Love is extended.

Today I will be vigilant for peace so that I can receive Love’s inspiration and extend its joy. This inspiration can be expressed in many ways within the world of form. It may be a thought in my mind that sees a brother in a loving light. It may be a smile to someone I’ve never met as I pass by. It may be remembering that a loved one remains safe in God, even though their body seems to be experiencing some form of dysfunction. Or it may be working peacefully at my computer. As I focus on staying in a state of peace, I learn to do through inspiration and Love. This is how I learn of the Love that is my true Nature. It brings great joy.

Mary:
This morning the Holy Spirit gave me a phrase to use whenever I notice that I am not at peace. The phrase is: “God’s Love is changeless.” Remembering this brings me back to sanity. God’s Son cannot change how he was created and so the whole Sonship is still perfect Love. Nothing can happen to change God’s one Son — God’s whole family of Love.

Remembering “God’s Love is changeless” helps me distinguish between the real and the unreal. If what I am seeing is unreal, I need not take it so seriously; I can let it pass by. Letting false ideas pass by is how I wake up from the dream of separation.

The helpful thought, “God’s Love is changeless,” is like a purifying agent that lets me easily let go of what is not real and does not matter. I do not need to change or fix something that I remember is not real. This awareness returns me to peace. It returns me to the truth that only Love is real. This is being vigilant only for God and His Kingdom.

Today my practice is to remember all through the day that God’s Love is changeless. This helps me rise above to see the Love that is always there behind every form of separation.

Accepting God’s Voice

Mary:
In our reading this morning in A Course in Miracles, this paragraph stood out to me:

Listen in deep silence. Be very still and open your mind. Go past all the raucous shrieks and sick imaginings that cover your real thoughts and obscure your eternal link with God. Sink deep into the peace that waits for you beyond the frantic, riotous thoughts and sights and sounds of this insane world. You do not live here. We are trying to reach your real home. We are trying to reach the place where you are truly welcome. We are trying to reach God. (W-pI.49.4)

These are very clear directions in how to help me move past thoughts of separation to the real thoughts we share with God. It emphasizes that I need to be quiet. It emphasizes that I need to have an open mind. It also instructs me to go past all the thoughts which stem from the belief in separation.

I must be willing to sink deep into the peace that awaits me. As I am willing, peace carries me gently past all worldly thoughts. Peace carries me to my real Home. It is here that I find my real strength. It is here that I am awakened to my true Nature, which includes the whole Sonship — God’s whole family of Love. This is my practice for today.

Robert:
This lesson assures me that “God’s Voice speaks to me all through the day.” There is never a time when God’s Voice is not present and communicating with me in my mind. When I am not aware of this communication, it is only because I have blocked it from my awareness by focusing my attention on the images of the world of separation. God’s Voice is always there, whether or not I am aware of It.

This lesson also assures me that the part of my mind that is aware of this Voice is a place of deep peace. To return to awareness of this Voice I only need to go to this deep peace in my mind. It’s always there. I just need to be willing to sink past the things of the world that I have given attention. As I give attention to peace, the guidance of this Voice comes to the front and leads me to my real Home.

My practice today is to frequently go to that place of peace in my mind. This is all I really want.
