The Presence of Love in All Things

Robert:
Today we read in A Course in Miracles that God is an idea and that the one Self we share is an idea in the Mind of God. We are told that to know the peace of God we must accept What we are.

If I identify with the body as what I am, I cannot experience the peace of God. If I see myself as a body, I will see others as bodies and I will believe those other bodies can harm me by what they do or say or even think. With the belief that I am a body comes the belief that all forms have meaning and value, either in their ability to help or harm me. No peace can be found in these beliefs.

As I work with the Course, it is becoming more and more clear to me that if I want to experience the peace of God I must learn to look past bodies and forms of all kinds to the presence of Love in all things. I can only do this with the help of the Holy Spirit, Who recognizes my mistaken beliefs but does not believe them.

As I join with the Holy Spirit, my true Self, I see with the eyes of Love, which only show me Cause for peace. Today my prayer is to walk with Holy Spirit and let Him interpret everything I see. This is how I will know that I am truly blessed as a Son of God.

Mary:
Only the reality of Love’s oneness is true. My practice today is to welcome the truth of Love’s reality in my mind. This brings me peace and quiet inner joy.

Gently Down the Stream

Holy Spirit to Mary:
Today practice letting yourself be carried. Step back and follow consistently through the day. Let peace be your one goal. Be open to My inspiration on a consistent basis. Follow… follow… follow. Let yourself remember that you rest in God all through the day.

Robert:
Today I was reminded of a song I learned in primary school: “Row, row, row your boat gently down the stream. Merrily, merrily, merrily, life is but a dream.” There is great wisdom in this little song. It doesn’t say row up stream but encourages me to go with the flow. Then it reminds me not to take this “life” seriously, for it’s only a dream.

The more I practice this, the more I am open to Holy Spirit’s lead. It is the flow of Spirit I want to follow. He will help me recognize that it’s only a dream so I can easily let it go. Today I will practice following the message of this song.

Letting Go of What I Think I Know

Robert:
In today’s reading in A Course in Miracles, these sentences stood out to me: “Your function here is only to decide against deciding what you want, in recognition that you do not know. Leave all decisions to the One Who speaks for God, and for your function as He knows it.” (T-14.IV.5:2,4)

It is interesting to observe how easily I am tempted to make plans and decide what I need to do to accomplish what I think needs to happen. Clearly all of this effort is based on making decisions on my own about what I want and how to get it. Yet as I was reminded yesterday, I really don’t know what anything means. So these decisions must be based on fantasy. Plans based on fantasy can never bring a sense of certainty and peace.

If I want the peace and certainty of God, I must let go of making plans on my own. I must be willing to follow the One Who speaks for God. Not only does this relieve me of the burden of making decisions based on incomplete and faulty information, but it will always lead me to the remembrance of my place in Heaven. It leads me to the recognition of my guiltlessness, which meets the necessary condition for knowing my oneness with my Creator. This is no small thing. It is all I really want. Today is another happy day of practice in stepping back and following Holy Spirit’s lead.

Mary:
Today is another day of practicing forgiving or letting go of what I think I know. The stories of separate bodies are not what God created and so they are not real. My continuing to make them seem real is just resistance to knowing what my Father knows.

Today is a day of stepping back and listening to my inner Teacher. As I am willing to let my mind quiet of all the senseless musings of the ego mind, I give the Holy Spirit a chance to return me to the truth. Opening my mind to the thoughts of the Holy Spirit is what today is for.

Let Go of Everything but Love

Mary:
In our reading in A Course in Miracles this morning, this is the message that stood out:

There is no death because the Son of God is like his Father. Nothing you can do can change Eternal Love. Forget your dreams of sin and guilt, and come with me instead to share the resurrection of God’s Son. And bring with you all those whom He has sent to you to care for as I care for you. (C-5.6:9-12)

My opportunity today is to remember that everyone is like our one Father. No one can be anything other than the eternal Love he truly is. The dreams of separation don’t matter. The only thing that really matters is to wake up from dreams and allow the veil to be lifted to see the Christ again. This is what today is for.

Robert:
Peace comes with accepting God’s Will as my own. This is the same as saying that I accept the Self God created as my Identity. All discomfort, discord and disturbance of my peace come from resistance of denial of the Will I share with God. To be happy all I need to do is accept my real Will, which is to Be as Love created me. Let go… Let go… Let go…

One of the first ideas presented in the ACIM Workbook for Students is that I don’t know what anything means. This idea is central to forgiveness, to letting go. When I hang on to my perceptions and wishes, I shut off Holy Spirit’s vision and the continuous flow of God’s Love. Inspiration and Love are always present, but when I deny them I am unaware of all that is given me. I want to accept the gifts of God. And so today I will let go and let go again and again to hold my mind open to receive His gifts. This is how I will open my mind to the real world.

Holy Spirit’s Unlimited Vision

Mary:
Today my practice is to remember that I rest in God. As I do this, along with it comes a sense of well being and peace. There is a gentleness and a sense of ease. I remember that all is well. I am grateful for all the blessings this practice brings to me.

Robert:
There is a lesson in A Course in Miracles which asks if I can be aware of the effects of my choices on all things, past, present and yet to come, everywhere. Of course the honest answer is no. When I choose to identify with a body, I choose perception that is severely limited by time and space. But the Holy Spirit does not share that limitation. It recognizes where I think I am but does not believe it. This is why it is essential that I follow Holy Spirit’s lead in every moment.

When I am willing to step back and follow, Holy Spirit’s unlimited vision is available to me. His vision shows me the certainty of Love, the safety of Love’s peace and the joy of the recognition of the truth in all my brothers. I don’t need to plan to make this happen. I need only be willing to accept the gift Holy Spirit offers in every moment. Today I will practice stepping back and letting Him lead the way.

Surrender to Happiness

Robert:
Today I would surrender to happiness. The ego sees surrender as sacrifice because the ego is the idea of sacrifice. But when I am willing to surrender my independent “will” and accept my complete dependence on God for my being, I surrender to happiness. “God, being Love, is also happiness.” (A Course in MIracles, W-pI.103) The Self that God created is Love eternal, always joyous and always at peace.

Today I would “sacrifice” the uncertainty and conflict of the ego and open my heart and mind to the certainty of God’s gift of Himself. I am willing to accept God’s Love.

Mary:
If I truly want to be happy, I must be willing to lay down the idea of individuality and differences. A world of individuality and differences is in the ego’s domain and is just insanity. I have all the help I need to let this go if I am willing to accept the Holy Spirit’s help. Accepting the Holy Spirit’s help requires that I have a quiet, open mind. In this open and quiet place, the Holy Spirit returns my mind to the truth. “The sight of Christ is all there is to see. The song of Christ is all there is to hear. The hand of Christ is all there is to hold. There is no journey but to walk with Him.” (ACIM, T-24.V.7:7-10)

As I allow the veil to be lifted in quietness, peace returns. A sense of peace, safety and well being returns. I remember that nothing has happened to change God’s one Son. Allowing the Holy Spirit to lead me to the truth is what today is for. This is what brings me happiness.

Only Love Is Now

Mary:
In our reading the Course this morning, this paragraph stood out:
“Child of peace, the Light has come to you. The Light you bring you do not recognize, and yet you will remember. Who can deny himself the vision that he brings to others? And who would fail to recognize a gift he let be laid in Heaven through himself? The gentle service that you give the Holy Spirit is service to yourself. You who are now His means must love all the He loves. And what you bring is your remembrance of everything that is eternal. No trace of anything in time can long remain in a mind that serves the timeless. And no illusion can disturb the peace of a relationship that has become the means of peace.” (T-22.VI.6)

This beautiful and gentle reminder helps me remember to serve only the eternal. The eternal is the truth about everyone in the dream I see. Giving everyone his full due as the Light of the world is my only function now. What a happy job I have to remember the truth about everyone. This is how I wake up from the dream of separation.

Robert:
I give everyone his full due by seeing them as they are now, free of all judgments and images from the past. Seeing my brother as he is now is seeing him as Love created him. Only Love is now. Fear can only seem to occur when I bring images and judgments from the past and overlay them on the present. If I do this I am unaware of the present and therefore unaware of the unified Love that is everywhere.

To know the joy of now I must let go of every thought from the past. I do this by offering all these thoughts to the Holy Spirit with the willingness to receive His vision in their place. Today is another happy day to practice this.
