Only Love Is Real

Remember that the Holy Spirit is the Communication Link between God the Father and His separated Sons. If you will listen to His Voice you will know that you cannot either hurt or be hurt, and that many need your blessing to help them hear this for themselves. When you perceive only this need in them, and do not respond to any other, you will have learned of me and will be as eager to share your learning as I am. (A Course in Miracles, T-6.I.19)

We have been dreaming a dream of being separated from Love and we are learning the dream is not true. We are now in the process of awakening from the dream of thinking that we can hurt or be hurt. We are learning from the Holy Spirit that only Love is real.

Behind every dream of attack or being attacked is the truth of our reality as Love. We are learning that hallucinations of separation mean nothing. Hallucinations are not real and therefore we cannot harm or be harmed. It is the Holy Spirit in our mind that helps us rise above to see the Love that is really there eternally.

Waking up is all we want. Waking up from the dream of separate bodies is all we need. We see the futility of being lost in dreams. We no longer need to believe in these made up stories, no matter how real they appear to be. Our whole life is now dedicated to seeing as the Holy Spirit sees. With Holy Spirit we can only bless. We join with the Holy Spirit in everyone to see that only Love is real.

Trusting the Love of God

Only the Love of God will protect you in all circumstances. It will lift you out of every trial, and raise you high above all the perceived dangers of this world into a climate of perfect peace and safety. It will transport you into a state of mind that nothing can threaten, nothing can disturb, and where nothing can intrude upon the eternal calm of the Son of God. (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.50:3)

To be at peace in this world, we must trust only in what is worthy of our trust — the Love of God. The ego is unworthy of any trust, being the denial of all that is trustworthy. The Love of God is eternally with us. It can be counted on in every instant and all circumstances.

To experience this certainty, we must redirect our attention from the chatter of the ego’s disturbing messages to the Voice for God in our minds. As we pay attention to this Voice, our inner Guide, we are shown the Love that is ever present beyond all appearances in the world. Our Guide will help us to reinterpret our perceptions in the world in the Light of Love.

As we practice asking the Light of Love within, “Help me to see this as You would see it. Help me to respond as You would respond,” we will learn of the eternal presence of Love within. We will see the innocence that Love sees. We will experience the peace and joy of the Love within as we extend it to our brothers. We will learn that we were created in Love and as Love and this will never change.

We Rest in God

You perceive from your mind and project your perceptions outward. Although perception of any kind is unreal, you made it and the Holy Spirit can therefore use it well. He can inspire perception and lead it toward God.

He tells you to return your whole mind to God, because it has never left Him. If it has never left Him, you need only perceive it as it is to be returned. The full awareness of the Atonement, then, is the recognition that the separation never occurred. The ego cannot prevail against this because it is an explicit statement that the ego never occurred. (A Course in Miracles, T-6.II.9:5-7;10:5-8)

We all eternally rest in God. We are all the pure Spirit of Love, as God created us. We are all one, whole and complete in the one Mind of perfect Love. Our purpose now is to follow Holy Spirit’s lead to the awareness of What we really are and Where we really are right now in the eternal present.

We are dreaming a dream of separation and the content of the dream of separation is not true. The separation never occurred in reality. Letting this truth return to our minds through our receptivity to the Holy Spirit is what time is for. We are returning to the truth that in reality we rest in God and every brother rests in God along with us. This is our practice for today.

Our Best Friend

You long for your Father and your Self so deeply, that nothing can ever satisfy you but Their return to your awareness. The Holy Spirit holds this link, this memory, for you until your mind is made ready, then He returns it to your awareness. On that day you will rejoice, and Heaven and all Creation will join you in celebrating the return of God’s Holy Son. (From the Christ Mind, p. 168)

The Holy Spirit is the link that returns us to the awareness of our one Self, to the awareness that we never left Heaven. Today we have another opportunity to pay attention to the Holy Spirit and the lessons He brings us. Every minute of every day is another opportunity to let our minds be purified of the false ideas we have been holding on to. We have believed in illusions of separation, and now we are learning that the purpose of our life is to let this belief be undone by our inner Teacher, the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is gentle and leads us along the way to truth as our willingness gradually grows. The Holy Spirit knows the level of fear of awakening that we unconsciously hold and never tries to rush us. He knows we are in Heaven now and are eternally safe in the Mind of God. That is why the Holy Spirit has infinite patience. He always sees us as totally innocent.

As our readiness gradually grows, He gently guides us to recognize the valueless for what it is. What no longer has value to us we easily let go. The Holy Spirit never sees us as guilty, no matter how long it takes for us to let go of valuing illusions. The Holy Spirit is truly our best Friend.

Accepting the Peace Love Brings

We would walk in peace today. It is our hearts desire. In our hearts is the Love of God, Which sees only Itself.

We would let this Love shine forth today. We would feel Its blessing, as we extend It to bless our brothers. This Love sees our brothers as wholly innocent, which reminds us of our own innocence. We would let Love guide our thoughts and actions today and accept the peace it brings.

Today’s Opportunities

Today we have the opportunity to look at how we bring the past to the present. We have the opportunity to watch our thoughts and see what we are valuing or making important. We have the opportunity to observe whether we are looking at the world through the ego’s eyes or the Holy Spirit’s eyes. We have the opportunity to choose once again with the Holy Spirit.

We have the opportunity to let our minds be transformed as we choose Holy Spirit’s vision. We have the opportunity to listen and receive clarity by letting the veil of separation be lifted by our inner Teacher. We have the opportunity to see our dreams of bodies as just that — dreams. We have the opportunity to let our thoughts of differences be healed as we accept the unity of Love’s oneness. We have the opportunity to be happy and accept Holy Spirit’s peace today.

We remember that we cannot harm or be harmed, because all that is real is Love. We are safe in Love and this can never change. We are willing to accept the truth today.

Love Is All That Matters

If only Love is real, only Love matters. This means that an appearance of lack of Love does not matter. If we are disturbed by an appearance of lack of Love, we are believing that Love can be threatened.

Peace returns when we remember that the only thing that is real is Love. That is why the Introduction to the Course says, “Nothing real can be threatened. Nothing unreal exists. Herein lies the peace of God.”

Today we open the Holy Spirit, Who shows us the difference between the real and the unreal. As we recognize the unreal for what it is, any disturbance by an appearance of lack of Love is recognized as an opportunity to forgive or let go of our misperception. We remember we remain in the eternal Heart of peace.
