Prison Ministry

by Rev. Joe Wolfe, O.M.C.

Rev. Joe WolfeMy name is Joe Wolfe, founder of Spirit Light Outreach, an effort that continually delivers A Course in Miracles and related books to prisoners. I’m also an ex-prisoner and soon to be ordained into the Pathways of Light Ministry in January.

For over ten years now prisoners from all over the country have been writing to request some of the books I make available to them. Many of these prisoners have displayed remarkable changes in their perception and have expressed genuine gratitude for having been extended the helping hands that offer the Hope, Love, Light and the Peace of God that they so desperately seek.

Because of these efforts some prison administrations have begun to allow “A Course in Miracles groups” and prisoner gatherings to exist and continue. What has also continued is an over-whelming viral effect; prisoners sharing the books with other prisoners and more and more requests pouring in every single day!

A Reflection of Ideas, Parts 1 & 2

by Rev. Myron Jones, O.M.C.

Rev. Myron JonesPart 1

For a long time now I have accepted that I am 100% responsible for my life, and then I realized I was 100% responsible for the world. I understand that if I am aware of something, it is there because I desire it to be there. I can find endless quotes from all the sections of the Course that tell me I do this to myself. For a long time, even though I knew it must be true, I was resistant to it because it made me feel guilty to think about it. As I began to let go of the belief that guilt is real, I could see that responsibility did not imply guilt, and then I started receiving more clarity.

My Role

by Rev. Michael Graves, O.M.C.

Rev. Michael GravesAs I feel the pain of the world I see
I realize it has come from me.

Every time I judged another’s life
I added to the pain and strife.

Every time I looked with a critical eye
I added to the collective lie.

What It Means to Be a Minister of God

by Rev. Linda Wisniewski, O.M.C.

Rev. Linda WisniewskiTen years ago, this coming May, I was ordained as a Minster from Pathways of Light. When I came home from a wonderful week that led to ordination, I was very excited. But soon, I experienced a let down. I also got physically sick and frightened. How was I supposed to minister; what was I supposed to do? Nothing was happening. The ego always wants to think in terms of “doing” in the world. To the ego, its value and worth comes from “doing” and getting accolades from others.

But, one thing I always learned at Pathways and from ACIM is to trust Holy Spirit’s guidance and put Holy Spirit in charge. Holy Spirit, the Voice for God, will show us what to do, where to go, what to say and to whom.

Awakening Through My Special Relationships — Part III

by Rev. Linda LaCasse, O.M.C.

Rev. Linda LaCasse — Stephanie —

This article is the third in a series of articles regarding Holy Spirit’s use of my special relationships for the purpose of healing and the miracles I have experienced as a result. The previous article left off with my divorcing my second husband. This article proceeds to cover my special relationship with my daughter, Stephanie, as we began our life on our own.

One Miracle Leads to the Next

by Rev. Susan Comello, O.M.C.

Rev. Susan ComelloSome wild stuff has appeared on my dream-screen in the last year. It was just about a year ago when my world was turned upside down by events which seemed to occur to me. Learning to take 100% responsibility and 0% guilt for these events is a continuing lesson. I was faced with situations which led me to question if I even wanted to be in this life anymore. It all seemed so, so very big and so very painful. So confusing, in fact the only way to describe it all was (and sometimes still feels) incomprehensible. Looking at it with the eyes of the ego, it all seemed so real and so very unfair. I am learning, with the help of Holy Spirit, and A Course in Miracles as well as my many conversations with journey partners and Pathways weekly phone meetings/courses, that these seemingly catastrophic events are actually lessons in love, if I choose to be open to Holy Spirit’s interpretation.

Christ Is in My Kitchen

by Rev. Michelle Rado, O.M.C.

Rev. Michelle RadoGod whispers to us subtly from beneath the constructs of our mind, and from a place deep within us that is whole and complete.

Our individual perception of others is actually a limitation, a limitation that we place on them from the limited viewpoint of our thinking mind. If we can allow our thinking mind to quiet for a little while and open our hearts to “feel” others instead of just think about them, the doorway opens for the Peace and Love that we actually are to flow into the Universe without restriction.

Telling Our Story

by Rev. Larry Glenz, O.M.C.

Rev. Larry GlenzNothing gives me a greater charge these days than telling our story. It brings me closer to the spirit of my son, Kevin. The two of us are stronger than ever together. I like to say he is Holy Spirit’s assistant coach.

There is a heroin epidemic on Long Island and school officials are joining with community leaders and law enforcement to find ways to save the young lives of these opiate addicts. There is a need for inspirational speakers to bring awareness to students, parents, and teachers.

The One About Fidelity

by Rev. Stephan Mead, O.M.C.

Rev. Stephan MeadA friend of mine called the other day and asked if I’d be willing to have a conversation with him about fidelity, specifically marital fidelity. Me, being without ego didn’t wonder for even a second if the conversation was going to have anything at all to do with me. (Ha, just kidding.) Anyway, the conversation didn’t have anything to do with me, as my friend was looking for some help, some clarity, a way of “seeing’ his present circumstance other than he was sleeping with a married person and therefore was absolutely guilty, and rightfully so, filled with shame.

Tap

by Rev. Paula Richards, O.M.C.

Rev. Paula RichardsYears ago, one of my high school friends had the habit of saying “you know” very frequently when she spoke. When we were sitting chatting with our English teacher one day, the teacher picked up a nearby pencil and began lightly tapping the back of my friend’s hand each time she said, “You know.” With each tap, my friend became more and more self-conscious until she was finally rendered speechless. We all laughed, but I never forgot the incident.

Sybil as Metaphor

by Rev. Cheryl Hubbard, O.M.C.

Rev. Cheryl HubbardMany of us associate the name Sybil with multiple personalities. “Sybil” is the name of a made for TV miniseries from 1976, based on a true story. I saw it on TV at that time and just watched it again. Seeing it again nearly 40 years later, through the eyes of ACIM, it is a new movie to me and even more interesting.

Seeing Past the Illusion

by Rev. Peggy Rivera, O.M.C.

Rev. Peggy RiveraOver the past week I have been communicating with an old friend, a woman whom I was close to when I was in my 20’s. We were discussing our first marriages and the heartache we felt when the marriages ended. In the past I would have felt a little bitter and victimized, but today I don’t feel that way at all. I feel only compassion for the men who left us. I understand that they were feeling there own sense of lack. My first husband was killed in a car accident shortly after we divorced and I had just married my present husband. He never got to spend time with his only son.

I Seek A Future Different from the Past

by Rev. Veronika Birken, O.M.C.

Rev. Veronika BirkenWith ACIM Workbook Lesson 314, it is really important to pause after each sentence: From new perception of the world there comes a future very different from the past. (1)

The willingness to watch the thought process and take everything that is not loving to the Holy Spirit to be changed, brings about transformation. But this work needs to be done!

A Holy Instant at the End of the Healing Inner Child Program

by Rev. Maria Kingsley, O.M.C.

Rev. Maria KingsleySeveral times a year I offer the Healing Inner Child 8-Week Program. This time around I only had two takers, even though many told me they would want to participate. So, I continued anyway with only two people, a man and a young woman. Then the woman could not come any more for personal reasons, and so I continued with the man.

During the last lesson, there is a group activity of ‘Nurturing the Needy Inner Child.’ The meeting before this, we had made wonderful progress, and he had insights into a feeling he had had all of his life when he was just a little one in the crib.  This experience pretty much took care of his childhood obstacles since he had done quite a bit of personal work before. So during this last activity, I asked him to write down what his immature self wanted to hear, since he could no longer identify with ‘the needy child within.’ He wrote about half a page of desires he had and which he wanted to experience in his life.

Winter Incubating

by Rev. Andrea Sassa Archuletta, O.M.C.

Rev. Andrea Sassa ArchulettaHiking the mountain trails around my home, I am reminded that winter is quickly coming. The sun is sitting lower in the sky. Her warming light retreats earlier each day. Chilly darkness moves in for longer and longer nights. Fall’s yellow and gold colors are gone. Stalks topped with their dried flowers remain, fragile against ice-tinged air.

In the stillness of cold and clouds and grey, I sometimes hear myself thinking it feels lonely; that I feel lonely in the silence of winter. I talk to this feeling. I want to know what it is trying to tell me. I believe this feeling is in me because a part of my mind is living in separation from the truth of what I am.
